These earrings are crafted with love in my Dorset studio using recycled sterling silver with a 9ct gold vermeil, each pair proudly bearing full British hallmarks. To create these unique pieces, I draw inspiration from nature, collecting oak leaves to serve as templates. Each leaf is delicately traced onto a sheet of sterling silver, then hand-sawn out. Since each leaf can only be used once, every piece becomes a singular one of a kind. The back of each piece of jewellery bears a stamp denoting the species of tree from which the leaf originated. Due to their handmade nature, slight variations from the product photos are to be expected. Throughout Europe, the oak tree has been revered across cultures, frequently linked with the symbolism of lightning and the deities associated with it, such as Zeus or Thor. This connection likely stems from the oak’s susceptibility to lightning strikes, given its towering height and high water content. In ancient traditions, the Druids, often referred to as “Oak men,” held the oak tree in particularly high esteem. They would ceremonially burn oak wood during midsummer sacrifices, honouring its sacred significance in their rituals. This practice underscores the deep spiritual connection between the oak tree and ancient British beliefs, where it symbolized strength, wisdom, and the enduring power of nature. For those seeking a touch of luxury, these earrings are also available in silver and rose gold vermeil finishes. Complete the look with matching leaf necklace, available in my shop
